EQUIP AUTO ALGERIA: A sure-fire success

EQUIP AUTO Algeria, which was held from 2 to 5 April 2007 at the SAFEX exhibition park in Algiers, under the auspices of the Algerian Ministry of Transport, brought together aftermarket professionals (working in distribution and maintenance), with their suppliers, importers and equipment manufacturers.
This year, the show was attended by 4,680 professional visitors, up 13% compared with 2006. After its first edition showing strong potential, EQUIP AUTO Algeria is now consolidating its status as North African leader in spare parts and garage supplies.

Leading exhibitors for a top-quality show

39 major importers – distributors of spare parts and garage supplies for light and heavy vehicles in Algeria – exhibited at EQUIP AUTO Algeria in 2007, providing a diverse, top-quality offering.

Many leading international equipment manufacturers also exhibited at the show. These included 51 French firms, 11 of which are members of the FFC* and 22 of the FIEV*. Furthermore, a pavilion organised by UBI France gave several SMEs an opportunity to participate in the event for the first time.

Companies from Italy (22 exhibitors) and Tunisia (16 exhibitors) confirmed their attachment to the Algerian edition of EQUIP AUTO.

Just as in 2006, the fight against infringement was one of the main topics at EQUIP AUTO Algeria. This being so, G6, an umbrella organisation of anti-infringement equipment manufacturers, participated in the event, in an area shared by the six member companies, in order to “raise awareness, provide information and take action” to fight the dangers of infringement.

In all, there was a high rate of satisfaction among the exhibitors surveyed at the event.

The professionnalisation of local players

With growth in the automotive aftermarket, the implementation of technical monitoring and the modernisation of workshops (assessment, technical info, computerisation, quality tooling etc.), local players in the sector showed particular interest in the show’s offering, given that it’s a unique event in Algeria.

The 4,680 distributors, retailers and repairers who attended the show also spoke of the Algerian players’ eagerness for a major professional get-together, on this rapidly changing market.

97% of the visitors questioned at the event said they were satisfied with their visit and 89% intend to come back in 2008.

An international event, bringing players together

EQUIP AUTO Algeria 2007 played host to several delegations: The Tunisian Embassy in Algeria, the UPIAM (Algerian equipment makers’ association), the Taysad (Turkish equipment makers’ association) and the AMICA (Moroccan association for the automobile industry and commerce).

The second, keenly awaited edition of EQUIP AUTO Algeria benefited from widespread coverage in the national daily press.

Equip Auto Algeria is an annual event.

See you in Algiers from Monday 31 March to Thursday 3 April 2008.
